When we first stepped into what is now GroundInn Lab, it wasn’t just a shuttered storefront in El Born.

It was the old shopfront of a neighborhood candy factory—once full of life, now dormant. A space with family ties, faded colors, and just enough magic left in its bones to imagine what could come next.

Reopening it wasn’t just about renovation. It was an act of intention: to reinvest in a neighborhood we love and to reawaken something that had gone quiet.

In a city where empty spaces chip away at community life, GroundInn Lab became something more than a venue. It became a signal—that spaces built with care and purpose still matter. More than just a coworking space in Barcelona, GroundInn Lab is a home for community networking, creativity, and culture.

From Club to Lab

Club Caramel began as an experiment—a home for artistic communities, spontaneous events, and creative gatherings. It was joyful, chaotic, and very alive.

But something unexpected happened: we didn’t just attract artists. We attracted people building infrastructure for connection.

Founders. Facilitators. Business owners. Alternative space operators. Educators. People growing ventures that weren’t just creative—they were community-powered.

That’s when we saw it clearly: we weren’t just running a club. We were running a lab—a community-focused coworking space to test, refine, and grow real-world models for how people come together.

So we let the experiment evolve. We became GroundInn Lab.

Why Third Spaces Still Matter

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg called them “third spaces”—places between home and work where belonging is built.

That idea feels more urgent than ever. We’re surrounded by digital tools for connection, but very few places to actually gather, build, and belong in real life.

At first, we followed the usual playbook: memberships, tiers, benefits. But it quickly became clear—our people weren’t looking for access. They were looking for alignment.
